Flat Proof Tire

Here’s an idea that can be potentially cool or problematic, flat proof tires. How are they flat proof you ask? Because they don’t contain any air to seep out. At the international auto exhibition in Detroit this January, Michelin presented a concept for a new and revolutionary tire technology – The Tweel.

The concept is an integrated wheel and airless, flat-proof tire. The Michelin people says the technology developed for Tweel makes possible performance impossible to achieve with conventional pneumatic tires. Which is great and all, but what about replacements? How long do these magic tires last, and more importantly how much do they cost? Until these questions are answered, I’ll stick to my spare.
