Collaborate with Co-Workers Using Google Apps Team Edition - Video

Google has made available Google Apps, which allows co-workers at school, or a workplace, to share files, and it’s now free. Google Apps Team Edition designed to implement Google Apps collaboration with nothing more than a set of work email addresses. Once you sign up with Google Apps Team Edition, you and your co-workers can collaborate using Google Docs, Gcal, Gtalk, and a Google Start Page to bring it all together. There’s no Gmail integration since you’re using your work emails, but it’s a very simple and effective new way to centralize work collaboration via Google Apps. Google says Google Apps is secure, but the fact documents are not, and cannot be saved, locally will be an obstacle. Once Google makes it possible to save files locally, and can prove that documents being sent and read using Google Apps is secure, then more organizations may see this as a good option to share information. The other issue for most organizations is the fact they uses proprietary software, so it seems like it would reduce productivity if employees had to duplicate documents just to share them on Google Apps.
