Steve Ballmer Does Not Understand the iPhone

While promoting Windows 7 improvements Steve Ballmer scorned the idea that smart phones could unseat PCs as the technology of choice for on-the-go consumers saying:

"Let’s face it, the Internet was designed for the PC. The Internet is not designed for the iPhone. That’s why they’ve got 75,000 applications, they’re all trying to make the Internet look decent on the iPhone."

Just a little correction. At the time Ballmer made this statement it was already well-known there are 85,000 apps. With the addition of new plugins for content management systems such as Wordpress that allow sites to be viewed easily with the iPhone, iPod Touch, and other high-end phones, the 230,391,343 blogs that exist at this moment can be viewed easily, and those blogs look great. With the new plugins blogs don’t even have to make a special mobile friendly site anymore.

Try viewing NerdGrind in your high-end phone and you’ll see how wrong Ballmer is.

What’s worse for Microsoft investors is that Microsoft develops the Windows Mobile OS for phones, so maybe he meant the Internet doesn’t look good on Windows Mobile phones.

With the explosive growth of the iPhone and iPod Touch Ballmer might want to stop ignoring that market.

HSN Wii Fail

The Home Shopping Network host was demonstrating Wii tennis when his accessory flew into the TV. Yes he had the wrist strap secure, but not the plastic tennis racket attachment.

Google Tries to Convert Internet Explorer Users to Become Chrome Users

If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer you may have noticed the message above when you visited the Google homepage. Google is doing everything they can to entice IE users to become Google Chrome converts.

Whoever controls the browser controls a large portion of both the desktop, and the Internet. Maybe Microsoft should consider making their browser lighter and faster.

AMP UP Before You Score iPhone App

AMP has created an App for the iPhone and iPod Touch called Before You Score (or B4 U Score), which is about as useful for a single guy as the Weather App.

The new App helps guys understand 24 female personality types before they talk to them, and has live feeds and news. It’s a pocket guide to picking up girls. Fun!

I Just Made Love Map Site

A new web site called I Just Made Love has sprung up that allows lovers to brag about their lovemaking and put it on a map where others can see where the deed was done (indoor or outdoor), and in what positions (5 in all).

The site uses Google Maps with a new feature, Love Making View.

Based on the blue and pink figures we are assuming this is a heterosexual site only.

The site just went online, but it’s already so popular it keeps getting overloaded. Time to add more servers.

Ajay Bhatt co-creator of USB Port on Conan

Conan O’Brien interviewed Ajay Bhatt, the co-creator of the USB Port (universal serial bus) who works for Intel, and pointed out that Ajay was played by an actor in the Intel rock star commercial that ran on television.

As is the late night tradition, Ajay appeared in his own comedy parody of the Intel ad, which I thought was better.

On a side note, we like Ajay’s approach that easier is better when it comes to computing.

Now if computer manufacturers would only put quad eSATA ports next to the quad USB ports we’d be in heaven.

Apple Releases iPhone OS 3.1.2

The Apple iPhone OS and iPod Touch OS 3.1.2 are now available for download.

iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone contains the following bug fixes and improvements:

Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep.
Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart.
Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming.

The updated firmware 3.1.2 for iPod touch contains the following bug fixes and enhancements:

Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPod touch to not wake from sleep.
Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming.

The iPhone Dev Team warns those with jailbroken and unlocked iPhones to avoid the new upgrade, until they can crack it.

The 3.1.2 updates AT&T’s carrier settings file for iPhone customers in the United States, and updates the carrier settings to version 5.6.

Chako Paul Lesbian Swedish Girls

The official Chinese news agency Xinhua has falsely reported the existence of a Swedish town called Chako Paul City.

The town, supposedly founded in 1820 in the northern Swedish woods by a wealthy widow, boasts 25,000 residents and a medieval castle, according to the Chinese news agency Xinhua.

A pair of blonde female sentries stand guard at the unnamed town, referred to in reports as Shakebao or Chako Paul City, and men wishing to enter risk being “beaten half to death” by police.

In addition, many of the town’s female residents turn to homosexuality “because they could not suppress their sexual needs”, the Chinese news service Harbin News reports. The story also formed the basis of a Shanghai Media Group television report.

Of course the entire story is fake, but that isn’t stopping millions of Chinese men from overwhelming the Internet infrastructure in Sweden in their attempt to find information on this city of Swedish lesbians.

In China there are villages made-up only of bachelors who would no doubt be very interested in merging with a lesbian city.

Someone took the initiative to register a domain name, and put up a site asking for money, while promoting the fake story about the Chako Paul girls.
