apple-nda Apple Drops NDA for iPhone Developers

With the threat that increased royalties could cause Apple to shutdown iTunes, Apple has now decided to no longer require iPhone developers to sign an non-disclosure agreement. Another reason for the change is Google Android, which is Google’s open source Linux based operating system for their new G1 phone. iPhone is also Unix based, but Apple has closely guarded their innovations they fear could be stolen, and used to compete against the iPhone.

The biggest criticism of the Apple iPhone NDA was the fact that developers could not talk to each other, which can be a significant resource that spurs faster, and better quality, development.

With the release of Google Android, it appears Apple will be moving closer to an open source business model.
