Allio Readies HDTV Integrated Media PC with Built-In Blu-Ray

Allio has done the unthinkable, shoved a full-blown media PC into a 1080p LCD TV. The units come in sizes up to 42 inches and buyers can customize a set that features a Vista-powered PC. The PC features a Core2Duo, 4GB of RAM, Wi-Fi, 1TB of storage and a Blu-Ray player. Even with those specs, the system still only costs $2,800.
The company hasn’t released where exactly the guts of the PC would be wedged within the TV. Also, the TV itself features a paltry 2000:1 contrast ratio. Allio plans on releasing the unit later in the month.

That’s pretty awesome, especially for that price. While the TV itself could probably be a little better, all that functionality, not to mention a built in blu-ray player, for less than three grand is awesome. I’ve been working with Warner Home Video on some blu-ray projects and I’ve got to say that it’s an absolute necessity if you have an HDTV.
